Here's how the math works.

The data is from Prediction Market Whales. 63 whales total have ever traded this market. 21 of them have closed their positions entirely. No money left at risk, no skin in the game.

That leaves 42 active whales. Of those 42, 30 are on No. That's where 71% comes from.

The 21 who left? Some were profitable. Some weren't.

But they all decided the trade was done.

The 71% is calculated only from the whales who still have money at risk. Almost all net capital points one direction. Sounds more like a verdict than consensus.

Now here's the part that tells the real story.

"No" net capital: $290,300. "Yes" net capital: negative $17,918.

That negative number needs a plain English explanation.

In prediction markets — like stocks — you can sell your position before the market resolves.

You don't have to hold until the end. If you bought Yes contracts and changed your mind, you can sell them back into the market and take whatever price you can get.

What's Actually Happening At The Strait

Nine vessels transited the Strait in the past 24 hours.

Normal daily traffic is around 100. The threshold to resolve Yes is 60 ships per day on a 7-day moving average.

Meanwhile Kalshi traders are split between August and September for normalization — CNBC ran both headlines this week.

Iran and the US remain in a deadlock over peace negotiations with the Strait's status at the center of the stalemate.

The whales read all of this before it made the headlines. That's the whole point of watching where the money goes. Trader consensus sits at 84.5% against normalization by May 31st..
