Prediction Market Edge
June 29, 2026
Prediction markets are now mainstream.
And to be honest, Washington doesn't know what to do about it.
The Hill called it "the wild west." Bloomberg Law is covering a Democrat who wants to ban them entirely. Semafor just released a poll showing voters in both parties want federal oversight. The Conversation is calling it "unregulated insider trading."
And Congress is arguing about whether to shut them down.
Meanwhile — the whales are already inside them, positioning on the 2028 Democratic presidential race.
And the names they're betting on will surprise you.
It's not Buttigieg. It's not Hillary. It's not Tim Walz.
Right now, serious money on a public blockchain is backing Kim Kardashian, Jasmine Crockett, and Roy Cooper — while burying nearly every name the Democratic establishment is floating.
But one potential candidate might really surprise you.
Someone just put $1,700 on Hunter Biden winning the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination.
Granted, that’s only $1,700. I get it. Not a lot of risk depending on how you define risk.
But not long ago a single $7,500 trade pushed his Polymarket contract from 0.7% to 2.9%.
That price movement is the most analytically informative thing about his entire presidential profile.
It reveals a market so thin that speculative buying around viral headlines moves the price more than any fundamental assessment of his candidacy.
Will he win? Probably not. I mean, no. And on one hand this shows the often absurd bets people place in prediction markets.
But on the other hand, there’s a lot we can glean about where people are placing their cash. No matter how rational or irrational it looks.
Like here, the full picture of where whale money is positioned across the entire 2028 Democratic field, while Congress debates whether any of this should exist.
🫏 THE 2028 DEMOCRATIC FIELD — EVERY NAME, EVERY POSITION
Let's start with the ones getting backed.
🐳 YES — Will Jasmine Crockett win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $2.3M volume. The Texas congresswoman. Second biggest Democratic market on the platform. Serious money.
🐳 YES — Will Kim Kardashian win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $1.9M volume. Not a joke. $1.9 million in whale capital on Kim Kardashian as the Democratic nominee.
🐳 YES — Will Gavin Newsom win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $577.9K volume. Still the establishment pick.
🐳 YES — Will Roy Cooper win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $521.0K volume. The former North Carolina Governor quietly getting backed.
🐳 YES — Will Kamala Harris win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $170.8K volume. The former VP. Smart money hasn't written her off entirely.
🐳 YES — Will Ro Khanna win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $261.2K volume. Direction just flipped from NO to YES. The California congressman getting a second look from serious money.
🐳 YES — Will Jon Ossoff win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $83.0K volume. The Georgia senator. Quietly getting backed.
Now here's everyone getting buried:
🐳 NO — Will Jared Polis win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $2.4M volume. The biggest NO on the Democratic side. Colorado's Governor — faded harder than anyone.
🐳 NO — Will Beto O'Rourke win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $1.7M volume. Three-time loser at the ballot box. Faded.
🐳 NO — Will Phil Murphy win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $1.8M volume. Faded.
🐳 NO — Will Zohran Mamdani win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $1.1M volume. Fresh off the NYC primary buzz. Faded anyway.
🐳 NO — Will Andrew Yang win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $1.0M volume. The entrepreneur. Faded.
🐳 NO — Will Raphael Warnock win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $798.9K volume. The Georgia senator. Faded.
🐳 NO — Will Chris Murphy win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $808.6K volume. Faded.

🐳 NO — Will Michelle Obama win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $685.3K volume. The name everyone floats. Whales say no.
🐳 NO — Will Hillary Clinton win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $589.5K volume. Faded. Again.
🐳 NO — Will Gretchen Whitmer win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $603.7K volume. The Michigan Governor. Faded.
🐳 NO — Will LeBron James win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $528.5K volume. The most famous athlete in America. Faded.
🐳 NO — Will Mark Cuban win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $523.6K volume. Faded.
🐳 NO — Will Chelsea Clinton win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $494.5K volume. The Clinton dynasty — faded.
🐳 NO — Will George Clooney win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $424.7K volume. Hollywood's favorite Democrat. Faded.
🐳 NO — Will Pete Buttigieg win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $423.7K volume. Faded.
🐳 NO — Will J.B. Pritzker win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $422.3K volume. The Illinois Governor. Faded.
🐳 NO — Will Oprah Winfrey win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $351.9K volume. Faded.
🐳 NO — Will James Talarico win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $352.2K volume. Faded.
🐳 NO — Will Stephen A. Smith win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $345.1K volume. The ESPN personality. Faded — but the fact that this market exists says everything.
🐳 NO — Will Barack Obama win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $284.8K volume. Yes. That market exists. Whales say no.
🐳 NO — Will MrBeast win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $234.3K volume. Someone put real money on this.
🐳 NO — Will Cory Booker win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $222.6K volume. Faded.
🐳 NO — Will Josh Shapiro win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $143.5K volume. Faded.
🐳 NO — Will Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez win the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination? — $51.6K volume. AOC. Faded.
More will be added soon…
These are updated every 15 minutes so the numbers can and WILL change…
But as of now, the numbers are insane. Kim Kardashian at $1.9 million. MrBeast at $228K. Stephen A. Smith at $342K. LeBron James at $526K…
Regardless of where you land on either of them, you have to recognize that absurdity and the intelligence exist in the same prediction market.
That's not a bug. It’s a feature.
And if you really want to be honest, the truth is people ARE absurd.
It’s human nature. We make emotional decisions and then post rationalize them. Not matter how irrational the “post-rationalizing” is.
Anyway, at the end of the day no matter what you think about prediction markets, investing, trading, betting… remember this:
Prediction market whales don't wait for permission.
And neither should you.
Click here to see what they do next.
Happy Monday.
