Todays top stories…

Texas has no legal sportsbooks. and prediction markets are filling the void… RotoWire published a full guide to the best prediction market apps in Texas, ranking Novig, Polymarket, ProphetX, and Kalshi. Because prediction markets are federally regulated as derivatives rather than gambling, they're legal in Texas despite the state having no legal sports betting. The Texas Medical Association wants a minimum age of 21. A Texas Senate committee is investigating. And yet RotoWire is publishing signup bonus guides for Texas residents right now. The gap between what regulators want and what's actually available to Texans could not be wider.

Prediction markets are now being used to preview corporate earnings calls — word by word. Benzinga reported that Kalshi traders are betting on what Urban Outfitters CEO Richard Hayne will actually say on today's earnings call.

"Tariff" is trading at 98% probability of being mentioned. "Refund" at 96%. "IEEPA" at 87% — because Urban Outfitters expects roughly $100 million back from duties paid under IEEPA before courts found the levies unlawful. Meanwhile Polymarket gives the company an 89% chance of beating quarterly GAAP earnings of $1.70 per share. Prediction markets are now running simultaneously on what a CEO will say and whether the numbers will beat, before the call even starts.

The University of Iowa's Iowa Electronic Markets. founded in 1988. is where Polymarket and Kalshi were born… KCRG ran an investigation tracing the lineage of modern prediction markets back to a University of Iowa business school experiment that correctly predicted the popular vote winner in every presidential election through 2024. The IEM caps traders at $500. Director Tom Gruca explained why: "If you have unlimited amounts of money, then people with lots of money to burn can enter the markets and move the prices away from what the true values will be." Gruca's critique of the commercial platforms is the sharpest academic argument against unlimited whale trading you'll find anywhere: "Then the prices no longer reflect what's going to happen. They reflect people's ability and willingness to hedge their position. And so now the prices are no longer predictions. They are a reflection of demand for hedging."

To be real, that's the most important sentence in prediction market theory published this week.

It's also the argument that PMW's whale consensus data was built to address — because if you can see where the largest capital is positioned, you can at minimum understand whether a price reflects genuine forecasting conviction or institutional hedging demand.

🌙 Daily Prediction Market Moonshot Report

Same wallet. Two trades. Three minutes apart.

This wallet put $1,600 on YES at 2.0 cents yesterday at 3:25 PM. Then three minutes later came back and put another $1,000 on YES at 1.0 cent. Same wallet. Same market. Price dropped between trades and they bought more.

That's $2,600 total on the ceasefire holding through September 15 — fourteen days from now. At an average entry of roughly 1.5 cents, 2,600 shares could pay out approximately $173,000 if the ceasefire holds.

The 60-day window has closed. Iran is threatening 45 tankers. Bessent just dropped "Economic D-Day" sanctions. And this wallet just put $2,600 on peace lasting two more weeks.

2.3 cents. YES. Again.

A different wallet put $1,100 on Augusto Cury at 1:33 AM this morning.

This is the third separate wallet we've seen bet on the Brazilian psychiatrist and motivational speaker in the last week. At 2.3 cents, $1,100 buys roughly 47,800 YES shares. Payout if Cury wins: approximately $47,800.

Either something is happening in Brazilian politics we're not tracking — or Cury has very dedicated fans with Polymarket accounts.

3.0 cents. YES. $3,000.

This wallet put $3,000 on Hormuz normalizing by September 30, thirty days from now.

At 3 cents, $3,000 buys 100,000 YES shares. Payout if Hormuz traffic returns to normal by September 30: approximately $100,000.

PortWatch shows traffic at a fraction of historical norms. Iran is threatening tankers daily. The ceasefire window has closed. Someone just put three thousand dollars on full normalization in thirty days.
